Interestingly, over 50% of winemakers in this region are women, a trend that can be attributed to the area's seafaring history. With men often at sea, the women of Rías Baixas took up the responsibility of managing the vineyards. They are now leading the way in creating innovative styles of Albariño and pioneering new winemaking methods for future generations.

Meet Katia Álvarez, the celebrated woman behind two exceptional Spanish white wines in this box. As the head winemaker at Martín Códax, one of the most prominent names in Rías Baixas wine, Katia was recognized as one of Spain's top ten female winemakers. Her expertise shines through in both wines featured today - one made from the classic Albariño grape, native to this region, and the other from Godello grapes grown inland in the heart of Galicia. While she is renowned for her Albariños, Katia's Godello showcases her bold approach and dedication to creating high-quality wine.
